Sam-ism

Sam is hanging out with me tonight. He's here playing Lego's while Stacey is at a conference and Rick is at school.

Annie: Sam, did you know that Grandma Jo is my Mom?

Sam: WHOA! Did you know that Grandma is MY MOM's MOM?

Annie: I did. That's because your Mom and I are sisters. We have the same Mom.

Sam: WHOA!

Can I Just Brag for a Minute?

This press release recently came out. NGA is a group that I spent countless hours putting together their bid. I had meetings with the Governor's office, and scoured the city, but my hard work paid off, they're coming to Salt Lake!

Utah Chosen to Host 2011 Governors Association Annual Meeting

by PR or News Wire

28 August 2009—

The National Governors Association (NGA) announced that Salt Lake City, Utah, will host the nation’s governors for its 2011 Annual Meeting, July 15-17. This will mark the fourth time NGA has held its Annual Meeting in the state since 1919.

“NGA is excited to be gathering in Salt Lake City,” said NGA Vice Chair West Virginia Gov. Joe Manchin, who will serve as NGA’s chair in 2011. “NGA meetings offer governors of all political parties the opportunity to sit down together to focus on solutions and ideas that improve state government and strengthen the federal-state partnership. I know Utah’s capital city will serve as an excellent setting.”

NGA’s nine-governor executive committee selected Utah for its first-class hotel and meeting facilities, as well as the city’s overall appeal. Utah’s bid demonstrated the state’s ability to meet all of the association’s criteria for hosting an Annual Meeting.

“The 2011 NGA Annual Meeting is a tremendous opportunity to showcase Utah. Governors and their families from across the nation will be in attendance, and Salt Lake City will serve as an excellent place for us to gather and discuss issues of importance to all governors,” said Utah Gov. Gary Herbert. “I am honored that my fellow governors have selected Utah as their host and am thrilled for the opportunity to showcase all that this wonderful state has to offer.”

Salt Lake City hosted the NGA Annual Meeting three previous times: 1919, 1930 and 1947. NGA’s Annual Meeting draws approximately 1,000 attendees. This is one of the organization’s two official business meetings held each year; the Winter Meeting is held in Washington, D.C. The next Annual Meeting will be held in Boston, Massachusetts, July 9-11, 2010.

Cake

I went to Stacey and Rick's to hang out last week and we had cake. Sam ate the top half of his cake including all of the icing and then gave the last of it to Rick who had finished his. He said he knew his dad liked cake more than him so he was going to share. Then Sam came up to me with his big puppy dog eyes and asked for some of my cake.
